TWO PEOPLE RESCUED AFTER CAR PLUNGES DOWN EMBANKMENT IN TINAJO
Two people were rescued by emergency crews after a car left the LZ-67 road in Tinajo on Thursday evening, 8 October, and plunged down an embankment onto Calle Tunera, where it collided with a parked vehicle.
The incident was reported at around 9.40pm. According to information released by Lanzarote’s emergency services, both occupants remained inside the car and needed assistance to get out safely.
Firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium carried out an extraction operation before handing the occupants over to healthcare professionals for assessment. Two ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) attended the scene, alongside Tinajo Local Police.
After the rescue, firefighters disconnected the vehicle’s battery as a precaution against electrical or fire risks. The car was then moved to a safe area.
The occupants’ subsequent condition had not been confirmed in the information available at the time of writing. No further details about what caused the vehicle to leave the road have been released.
DRIVERS URGED TO TAKE CARE ON LANZAROTE ROADS
The incident is a reminder for both residents and visitors to take care when driving around Lanzarote. The island’s roads can vary from busy urban streets to rural routes with bends, changes in elevation and limited lighting. Drivers should reduce speed where appropriate, remain alert and avoid distractions, particularly after dark.
Anyone approaching an emergency scene should slow down safely, follow police directions and leave room for emergency vehicles to operate.
