Worker Injured After Falling Into Pool Under Construction in Tahíche, Lanzarote

A worker was injured after falling into a swimming pool under construction in Tahíche, in the municipality of Teguise, on Tuesday afternoon, 20 October 2026.

Emergency services were alerted at around 3:15 pm after the incident at a building site on Calle Pérez de Moya. Reports say the local police alerted Lanzarote’s Consorcio de Seguridad y Emergencias, while staff from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC) and the Policía Local de Teguise were already assisting the injured man when firefighters arrived.

The worker was reported to be suffering pain, vomiting and convulsions. Medical personnel had placed a cervical collar on him before firefighters helped with the rescue and evacuation. The emergency teams secured him on a rescue stretcher and transferred him, with police assistance, to the ambulance. He was then placed on a vacuum mattress for transport.

As of the latest reports available, further details about the worker’s condition and the precise circumstances of the fall had not been made public. No assumptions should be made about how the accident happened until more information is confirmed.

The incident is a reminder of the risks that can arise on construction sites, where unfinished structures, changes in ground level and open excavations or pools require careful safety measures. The response involved local police, emergency medical staff and Lanzarote’s fire and rescue service.

Tahíche is located in the municipality of Teguise, inland from the island’s main resort areas. There has been no indication in the reports that the incident affected tourist facilities or public visitor attractions. Residents and visitors should follow any official instructions if an emergency response is taking place nearby and avoid entering cordoned-off work areas.
